Amazing Neutral Home Offices With Super Colorful Accents
Committing to color is often our client’s most significant decision. From dramatic to subdue, color plays a critical role in our moods, sometimes committing to bright colors we love gets in the way of what we like.
While my interior decorators and interior designers love color, we often provide home decor and interior design inspiration in neutral colors with colorful accents. Throughout this interior design blog post, you’ll find amazing neutral home offices with super colorful accents. I hope you enjoy these home office ideas. I truly hope they help you identify and distinguish styles to make your house a home.
1. Traditional Navy Cabinets With Bright Red Abstract Art.

2. Gift Wrapping & Craft Room Office Ideas
As a young couple expecting their first child heads south to create a quiet southern family retreat they created an amazing craft room and home office complete with a gift wrapping station. While the home office is completely neutral, the pops of colors brought in the gift wrap, crayons, ribbons, and markers provide an immediate fun home office design.

This Vintage Style Southern California Home full of hand-me-downs and flea market finds are given new life in a designer’s Huntington Beach home. As interior designers, we often have the client’s design in mind and we don’t want our surroundings to distract from your home design projects so we keep our offices neutral as they are often the canvas for our work.

6. Albert Pinto’s Rio de Janerio 1970’s Home Office
“Bold black lines and furnishings give this space a strong statement. The desk in the late designer Alberto Pinto’s Rio de Janeiro home office is surmounted by an Almir Reis photograph of volleyball on Ipanema Beach; the parchment lamps are the 1970s, and the chair is by Philippe Hurel. Here, mixing vibrant colors and earthy textures works.” says Architectural Digest.

11. Are House Plants Good For You?
Yes! Numerous studies have shown that indoor house plants are known to boost mood, productivity, concentration, and creativity. Indoor house plants reduce stress, fatigue, sore throats, and colds. House plants clean indoor air by absorbing toxins, increasing humidity, and producing oxygen. Aesthetically, indoor house plants add life to a sterile office, give privacy, and reduce noise levels.

14. How Is Decorating a Home Office Is Different From Decorating a Corporate Office?
Decorating a home office is a reflection of your style whereas a corporate office is a reflection of the corporate brand. In a home office, you can show off your personality, personal belongings such as photographs, travel memorabilia, or personal art collections.

15. Modern Home Office Storage Ideas
Storage is critical for home offices. Having the right tools at the right heights with all of the functionality is critical. I designed this home office awhile back. The client wanted a modern neutral feel where functional filing systems and organization were the design challenges. The back credenza with a bookshelf provides both open and closed storage. The low file cabinet and open storage shelf with two fabric storage cubes allow easy access to much-needed documents and a quick stow away to keep the office tidy.
Custom furniture for home offices is one of the most critical areas for customized solutions. Think about it. We spend more time in our master suites and home offices than we do all other parts of our houses combined.
16. Tell a Colorful Story By Organizing & Color Blocking Books.
Some super sleek curves—architect Charles Gwathmey’s signature—distinguish his St. Barts home office and its sucupira-wood desk, designed by Kang Chang and fabricated on the island. The swivel chairs are by Hans Wegner from DK Vogue, and the ceiling fan is by Boffi. The rainbow display of books provides a colorful array to an otherwise neutral home office.

17. Colorful Patterned Custom Window Treatments Provides Instant Color To Neutral Home Offices.
Large pattern fabric makes any space look larger. Notice how this large leaf pattern on the roman shade style custom window treatments, green plant, and green gimp trim on the lampshade provide instant life to this neutral home office.
Between the leaf-printed window treatments and treillage-fronted cabinetry, this office feels like a secret garden—in fact, it was a porch before designer Joe Lucas enclosed the space.

18. Reorganize your office and use colorful office supplies showcased in acrylic & glass storage solutions.
Reorganizing your workspace or home office? Make the most of your space and materials with Darcy Miller’s DIY office organization guide.
Consistency is key when reorganizing your home office or workspace. Notice how the majority of the objects in this office are colorful. By using natural gradual colorful tones in glass and acrylic storage looks much cleaner than if off-color objects or printed storage containers were used. Plus a HUGE benefit is: clear storage allows you to easily peek into the containers without having to label them or remove the lids or open a top to see if you’re out of something.

19. Aspen Office With Statement Art Piece
If you’re undecided on a paint color or how to format a gallery wall, why not just put up a statement piece of art? In an Aspen, Colorado, home by Stonefox Architects, the office is highlighted by an eye-catching Thomas Struth photograph. Not much else is required. You could do the same in your home office or workspace.

20. Use Single Color Storage Containers & Color Block Books.
When using open shelving, use a single color of storage containers on each shelf. If you can stay organized, this organizational system is for you. Seeing everything means you’ll never lose a file or supply. In this Boston brownstone, the kitchen pantry also houses the office, so the shelves serve double-duty.

“Your formula for a modern office: white lacquer desk, a geometric rug, and sleek lighting. To make it a little more glam and feminine, add bold color and brass accents”, says House Beautiful.

24. Paint or Wallpaper The Ceilings & Add Colorful Textiles.
When adding a pop of color to your home office, look up! Depending on a ceiling color, the right balance in-ceiling colors can open a workspace to make it feel larger and more open. In the home office below, we balanced the wood-toned cabinet ceiling color with the copper-colored grasscloth on the ceiling. To further balance the copper tones, we pulled in a copper pillow and metallic copper side table.
